360 Reality Audio™
Forget you’re wearing headphones.
It’s more than just listening: you’re inside the experience.
360 Reality Audio: WHAT IS IT?
360 Reality Audio (360RA™) is personalised sound for your ears only.
Sony Electronic Corporation's 360RA is a groundbreaking object-based audio technology that transports the listener right into the space where the audio was recorded.
With cooperation from Sony Electronics and Fraunhofer IIS (part of Europe’s largest applied research organisation), the new 360RA format is compliant with MPEG-H 3D Audio, an international open audio standard. 360RA is optimised for audio streaming and supports up to 64 speaker channels... all experienced inside your stereo headphones or sound system!
360 Reality Audio: HOW DOES IT WORK?
Individual sound sources – such as vocals or instruments – are mapped with positional information and placed in a spherical omni-directional soundscape.
Multiple parameters are controlled – including elevation, distance and angles.
Fewer speakers – or simply a pair of headphones – can recreate this 360° soundscape, placing the listener in the exact location of the recording.
